In Wednesday trading, the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 117 points to 16,519.

The Nasdaq fell 13 points to 4,068.

The S&P 500 rose 10 points to 1,878.

The LABJ Stock Index rose more than 2 points, or 1 percent, to 189.
