L.A.’s soon-to-be-built NFL stadium is in the running to host the Super Bowl in either early 2020 or 2021. According to the Los Angeles Times Thursday, the decision will be made in May, with the league’s 32 owners voting on awarding the game.
As Houston and Minneapolis will be hosting the next two Super Bowls, the NFL’s Super Bowl Advisory Committee has decided to have the following three championship games voted on in succession, but in one day, at the spring meetings in May.
The Rams’ stadium in Inglewood, slated to open in 2019, will be eligible for a Super Bowl at the end of that season. With this development, the committee will depart from its original “guiding principle” that a new stadium must have two full seasons under its belt before becoming eligible to host a Super Bowl.
