CBRE Acquires Forum Analytics

Downtown L.A. real estate giant CBRE Group Inc. announced Wednesday that it has acquired Chicago’s Forum Analytics, a provider of data science about consumer behavior for retailers and other clients. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Paul Sill, who founded the firm in 2001, will become senior managing director of location analytics for CBRE. Sill and his staff of more than 20 statisticians, analysts and programmers will become employees of CBRE, but will remain at their current office in Chicago, according to a CBRE spokesman. There will be no layoffs.

Forum will continue to work with its current clients now that it’s under the CBRE banner. Those include the retailers Ace Hardware, Sephora, Verizon Wireless, Domino’s Pizza and Carl’s Jr. It will also work with CBRE’s retail tenants, providing them with data on consumer behavior at specific locations, helping them make decisions like where to expand and what hours to keep the business open, according to a CBRE spokesman.

The Forum deal follows CBRE’s acquisition of Indianapolis’ Sitehawk Retail Real Estate in November and Dallas’ United Commercial Realty in January.
