Tourists visiting Los Angeles County pumped a record-setting $22.7 billion into the local economy last year, the L.A. Tourism and Convention Board announced on May 7.

In January, the tourism board disclosed that for the seventh year in a row, Los Angeles welcomed a record number of visitors – hosting 48.5 million tourists in 2017.

“We’re breaking tourism records year after year, because Los Angeles has always been a place that welcomes the world,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a statement.

The county saw 41.2 million domestic and 7.3 million international visitors. Total visitation grew 2.6 percent in 2017 compared to 2016.

International visitation grew 3.2 percent year-over-year. The top two countries that saw the largest year-over-year growths for tourists visiting L.A were China and Korea.
