Qatar Airways will begin transporting freight through Los Angeles International Airport next month with two weekly flights to and from the Middle Eastern country, executives said Tuesday.

Starting on April 4, regular Saturday and Wednesday flights will depart from Qatar’s capital, Doha, and arrive at LAX after stops in Luxembourg and Mexico, said Ulrich Ogiermann, Qatar Airways’ chief cargo officer. Return flights will department the same day.

The airline’s Boeing 777s will produce, flowers and seafood from Los Angeles to the Doha, while machinery, pharmaceuticals, apparel and textiles will be imported into Los Angeles, said Ogiermann.

Qatar Airways currently transports freight in cargo planes through other U.S. airports and on passenger flights, Ogiermann said, though there are no plans for now time to begin passenger service at LAX.
