Deborah Ale Flint, director of Oakland International Airport, has been tapped to head Los Angeles World Airports and its three airports by L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti.
The Board of Airport Commission will consider Flint at its Thursday meeting, and her nomination must be approved by the City Council.
As aviation director, Flint led the Oakland airport’s operations, management and business development. She will replace Gina Marie Lindsey, who led LAWA for nearly eight years as executive director before announcing her retirement in February. Lindsey’s last day will be July 1.
Flint, 47, would join LAWA as it is in the process of overhauling most of the terminals at LAX and bringing rail lines to the airport.
“As we invest in our city’s transportation future, I know that she will not only focus on building the best airports in the world, but also work with the community to ensure L.A.’s airports are good neighbors,” Garcetti said in a statement.
Flint has served as director of aviation at Oakland since 2009 and was assistant director from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, she led the airport’s capital program and coordinated its major projects.
