Beijing-based airline Air China Ltd. on Thursday will announced changes to its nonstop service between Beijing and Los Angeles – likely the addition of more flights – at a press conference that will be attended by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Air China’s Vice President-North America, Dr. Zhihang Chi, and other Chinese officials will join Garcetti and Samson Mengistu, deputy executive director of the Los Angeles World Airports, for the announcement Thursday morning at the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Air China is the only airline operating direct flights between LAX and Beijing, with between one and four flights daily. It also moves more passengers through Los Angeles – 368,261 last year – than two other mainland China-based airlines that take off and land at LAX: China Eastern and China Southern.
Air China executives declined to comment in advance of Thursday’s event.
