Senior Director of Program Services, Hope The Mission Executive Director, Anne Douglas Center for Women (LA Mission)
Hope the Mission, Los Angeles Mission
Mina Garcia holds two critical leadership roles simultaneously – directing programs at Hope the Mission in the San Fernando Valley and serving as executive director of the Anne Douglas Center on Skid Row, where she champions women seeking a second chance. Few people work across the full geography of Los Angeles’ homelessness crisis the way Garcia does, and fewer still do it with her depth of expertise, mentorship and heart. She is the frontline and the foundation at once. Without her leadership, both organizations would lose not just a director but their compass.
Words To Describe Them: Compassionate, relentless, trusted, dignified, present, transformative
From the Indispensable: “Every day I meet someone who has been overlooked, dismissed or forgotten – and I see a person with a story, a history and a future worth fighting for. That’s what drives me. It’s not a program or a placement number. It’s the moment someone feels seen for the first time in years. It’s the look on a person’s face when they realize someone is truly in their corner. As long as people need that, I’ll show up every single day.
