Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Division
The Chicago School
Nadia Jones, a professor in the marriage and family therapy division at The Chicago School, specializes in culturally responsive therapy and community mental health, pairing clinical expertise with long-standing community ties. She has built her career on partnerships that put students in the field through community service, volunteerism and clinical training. Jones’ work has brought mental health services to historically underfunded L.A. school districts and a new YMCA counseling center for preschool-aged children, reaching families who would otherwise go without.
Words To Describe Them: Catalytic, bridge-builder, transformative, committed, generous, joyful
From the Indispensable: “My children, students, and work family drive me. I’ve always worked hard; however, after losing my children’s father to suicide, my personal life and professional mission transformed. I lead by example so my children can carry that with them and see the commitment to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, creating safe spaces for healing and learning, helping students become compassionate clinicians and advocates. The Chicago School supported me with a space to heal and grow while understanding trauma in a different way. My team encourages my passion for mentoring, advocacy, service and student engagement, which inspires me to keep giving my best.”
