Podcast network Wondery has hired Jeffrey Glaser, former executive vice president of current programming at 20th Century Fox Television, as president of content.
Launched in January by Chief Executive Hernan Lopez, who previously served as chief executive of Fox International Channels, the company will move into its West Hollywood headquarters next month.
Glaser will be tasked with recruiting writers, producers and actors for the network’s scripted and non-fiction shows.
“What we’d like to do is … shows that are hosted, or co-hosted by two people, whether they are interview shows or documentary shows,” said Lopez. “Separately, we’d like to do scripted radio drama, just like existed in the 1930s and 40s.”
The company will also sell advertising on behalf of the podcasts it produces, as well as third-party podcasts.
Lopez declined to disclose the amount of investment Wondery has received so far, but he said the number is in the millions. 20th Century Fox is a minority owner of the startup, while Glaser and Lopez have also taken an undisclosed financial stake in the firm.
