Fiber optic provider Wilcon has taken the next step in its roll-up of local telecom companies, consolidating and rebranding recently acquired firms IX2 and Freedom Telecommunications under its corporate umbrella.
Wilcon, with backing from Charlotte, N.C., private equity firm Pamlico, acquired IX2, a data center company, in 2012 and purchased Freedom in October.
Reginald Scales, Wilcon’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, said the move allows the company to offer more services like Ethernet and wavelength optic fiber access. The three companies will also leverage their combined 50,000 square feet of data center infrastructure in downtown L.A.
“This integration will reflect what our company is now,” Scales said. “We’ve taken three legacy companies and brought them together to provide greater data center capabilities in the downtown area.”
