There’s another tech titan opening up in town.

New York blog network Tumblr has opened an office in Culver City.

Lee Brown, Tumblr’s global head of sales, blogged on Thursday with pictures of the office over the caption, “Tumblr LA office open!!!”

The 7-person office will be Tumblr’s first West Coast branch and will focus on sales and outreach, according to a company statement also released Thursday.

“Tumblr is delighted to open our first West Coast office in Los Angeles,” the company said in the statement. “This adds to our existing sales force, which covers major cities in the U.S. including San Francisco, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago and New York, in addition to L.A. We are excited to bring Tumblr closer to our agency and entertainment brand partners in L.A.”

It’s notable that Tumblr chose Los Angeles over tech hub San Francisco because of its proximity to Hollywood. Other tech companies that have also opened L.A. offices to solidify their entertainment ties include Microsoft Corp., Netflix Inc., Amazon Inc. and Google Inc. and its subsidiary YouTube.

Tumblr operates a platform for people to set up micro blogs where they can share multimedia or short-form posts. It has more than 100 million blogs in its network.
