Tongal, a crowdsourced content studio that connects independent filmmakers with brands, has become a Facebook Marketing Partner, the company announced on Thursday.

Through the partnership, companies trying to develop video content for Facebook will be directed to Tongal within the social media site’s business portal, giving Tongal access to a host of new clients.

Advertisers, brands, and agencies use Tongal’s platform to connect with artists capable of creating videos for marketing campaigns. The firm has previously worked on campaigns for LEGO, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, and Lenovo, among others.

“When you think about our offering, which is access to a global community of writers and directors and their ability to deliver really great work, it matches up nicely to Facebook’s media platform which allows advertisers to get hyper-local and deep,” said James DeJulio co-founder of the company.

DeJulio added that Tongal’s crowdsourcing model simplifies the production process for brands,

“We’ve basically taken the paperwork behind production and virtualized it,” he said. “That means everything from creative development to clearing releases and rights.”

In August, Tongal used Facebook to premiere seven short films based on Twilight characters in coordination with Lionsgate, Volvo Cars, Women in Film, and “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer.

Tongal was founded in 2009 and has raised more than $21 million in venture capital, according to Crunchbase.
