Video game studio Starbreeze of Stockholm, Sweden announced plans on Saturday to launch a virtual reality arcade in Los Angeles.

The planned arcade, Project StarCade, is part of the company’s effort to increase public exposure to virtual reality media and to test out its virtual reality headset, the StarVR, the company said.

Starbreeze also has offices Paris and Los Angeles. The company has developed video game titles such as “Overkill’s The Walking Dead,” “Payday: The Heist,” and several titles based on the “Chronicles of Riddick” film franchise.

“We continue to iterate the fact that VR really needs to be experienced in person to fully be able to appreciate the phenomenon, and why not have your first experience in a real premium setting in our StarVR headset?” Starbreeze Chief Technology Officer Emmanuel Marquez said in a statement. “We’ve managed to secure a prime location where people are welcome to step into our StarCade and enjoy our Overkill’s The Walking Dead VR experience.”

Starbreeze would be open to showcasing other companies’ virtual reality titles as well, he added.

The company has not yet disclosed the location of the arcade, but said it would open in the spring or summer.
