Snapchat Chief Executive Evan Spiegel told a group of investors recently that the company’s app is bringing in 8 billion video views a day, according to unnamed sources cited by Bloomberg.
The disclosure was made in Spiegel’s first keynote presentation in front of public-market investors, an indication that Snapchat continues to eye an initial public offering of its stock.
Speigel also said the app had more than 100 million daily users, who spend an average of 25 to 30 minutes on the app each day. The app reaches 41 percent of the 18- to 34-year-olds in the United States each day, he said.
It is not clear how long a user needs to watch a video for Snapchat to count it as a video view. The app’s 8 billion view views a day, however, are equal to the number of video views that Facebook gets daily.
