Faraday Future’s Main Backer Receives $1B to Pursue Electric Cars
Le Holdings Co. of China, the main backer of electric car startup Faraday Future, announced on Monday that it raised $1.08 billion from a group of Chinese investors to develop an electric car, reports the L.A. Business Journal. Investors in the company include Legend Holdings Corp., Yingda Capital Management Co., and China Minsheng Trust.
Hulu Orders Two Virtual Reality Shows
Hulu has ordered two virtual reality shows from Huffington Post’s RYOT Studios including a news program called “The Big Picture: News in Virtual Reality,” as well as a comedy show called “Virtually Mike and Nora,” reports Variety. RYOT Studios has been producing VR programming for partners like the AP and the New York Times as well as Huffington Post’s 360-degree video initiative, but these videos will be exclusive to Hulu.
Tinder Adds Swiping Feature to iMessage
Tinder has launched a photo-swiping app for iMessage, called Tinder Stacks that lets users share images with their friends, who can then swipe right or left to voice whether they like or dislike of the pictures, reports TechCrunch. The feature is discoverable though Apple’s iMessage App Store, though it’s not a standalone application.
Tyler Oakley Launches Talk Show on Ellen DeGeneres’ Digital Network
YouTube star Tyler Oakley has launched a talk show online on the Ellen Digital Network, reports Variety. Ellen Digital Ventures is a joint venture between Ellen DeGeneres and the Warner Bros. Television Group.
Job Candidate Screening Startup Imbellus Raises $4M
Job candidate screening company Imbellus has raised $4 million from Upfront Ventures, Thrive Capital, GLG, and Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures, reports TechCrunch. The firm is working on designing a test to help hiring companies assess a job candidate’s creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
