Cornerstone buys Workpop; Bird halts Raleigh service as Florence moves in; Hulu inks multi-year deal with Discovery Inc.
Santa Monica human resources software developer Cornerstone OnDemand Inc. acquired Santa Monica hiring platform Workpop Inc. Sept. 12, the Business Journal reports. Both companies are in the software-as-a-service market; and Cornerstone OnDemand reports over 3,350 clients to date from 192 countries.
Scooters Scarce in North Carolina Ahead of Florence Landfall
Santa Monica–based, dockless scooter sharing company Bird Rides Inc. announced Sept. 11 it is removing all of its scooters in Raleigh, N.C. in anticipation of Hurricane Florence’s landfall. The company began operating in Raleigh in July 2018, according to Socaltech.
Hulu Signs Discovery Deal for 4,000 Episodes
Santa Monica-headquartered Hulu has signed a deal with Discovery Inc. to add nearly 4,000 episodes of Discovery networks programming to its video streaming service. The Hollywood Reporter said that the multi-year agreement will include programs such as “Mythbusters,” “Say Yes to the Dress,” “Deadliest Catch” and “House Hunters.” Discovery networks include the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Velocity, HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel.
