VR Playhouse Launches Virtual Reality Training Program

Glassell Park-based boutique studio VR Playhouse has launched VR Playhouse School, an educational program meant to attract students, artists, developers and directors to virtual reality, the Business Journal reports. The production company will offer courses covering 3D production, interactive video and creative writing starting July 10.

USC to Lead Quantum Computing Project

Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity has selected the University of Southern California to lead a variety of universities and private companies to build quantum computers that are at least 10,000 times faster than the best state-of-the-art computers. The contract could be worth up to $45 million in funding, and USC will lead the effort to build, design and test 100 qubit quantum machines.

Sneaker Marketplace Goat Hires Former Twitter Executive

L.A.-based online sneaker marketplace Goat has hired former Twitter chief operating officer Adam Bain to its board of directors, reports SoCal Tech. The company, which allows members to buy and resell collectible sneakers, has raised $37.6 million in four rounds of funding.
