Tesla Begins Installing Made-in-America Solar Roof Tiles
Tesla began installing solar roof tiles on Jan. 9 for customers who had placed reservations following the completion of its pilot installation program, which looked at reliability and weatherization testing, according to Ars Technica. Until now, only Tesla employees could get the solar tiles installed. The Palo Alto electric vehicle company began making the solar roof tiles in December at a factory in Buffalo, N.Y.
NASA to Kick Off Earth Science Data Program With Small Satellite Constellation Cos.
NASA will launch an Earth science data pilot program gathering data from companies flying small satellite constellations, Space News reports. Late last year, NASA began requesting information from companies “currently flying constellations of at least three satellites.” The space agency will now determine costs and data licensing capabilities.
Eastman Kodak Launches ‘KodakCoin’
Photography equipment and imaging technology company Eastman Kodak partnered with Wenn Digital to create KodakOne, a digital photography platform that uses its own digital currency, called KodakCoin, CNBC reports. The 130-year-old company said it used blockchain technology to create the platform, which allows photographers to sell license rights to their photos and collect payments, as well as search the web for unauthorized use of their images.
