Snap Lays Off Two Dozen Employees
Snapchat parent Snap Inc. laid off roughly two dozen people across eight different teams on Thursday, Cheddar reports. Most of the layoffs were in Snap’s content division, sources said, which includes editors who curate user-submitted videos for breaking news and other events.
Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg Leaving in March
Eric Hirshberg, the chief executive of Activision Publishing, will leave his job after eight years in March, VentureBeat reports. Hirshberg ran a major division of Activision Blizzard was responsible for game series such as Call of Duty, Destiny, and Skylanders. He reported to Activision Blizzard Chief Executive Bobby Kotick.
California Legislators Move Forward Bill to Create California Aerospace Commission
The California Assembly Appropriations Committee approved plans Jan. 18 to create a California Aerospace and Aviation Commission, which would serve as a central point of contact for the industry and recommend actions the governor and state legislature could take to retain jobs and encourage the industry’s growth, SpaceNews reports. The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. backs the plan. “It sends message to the aerospace community that the state hears and sees what’s happening in the industry and wants to protect it and grow it,” said Judy Kruger, LAEDC’s aerospace industry development director.
