Super League Gaming links with Topgolf; ESPN+ exceeds 2 million subscriptions; SpaceX prepares for manned flights
Disney’s ESPN+ Surpasses 2 Million Subscribers
Burbank-based Walt Disney Co.’s sports subscription service the ESPN+ network has over 2 million subscribers after being launched in April 2018. The service offers on-demand sports games and ESPN films, and costs $49.99 annually. In its first five months, the streaming service gained over 1 million subscribers, and plans to stream over 1,425 live events this month.
Super League Gaming Partners With Topgolf
E-sports league Super League Gaming Inc., operating in Santa Monica, announced Feb. 5 it will link with TopGolf International Inc., a Texas-based operator of indoor driving ranges and arcades, to bring competitive e-sports events to Topgolf venues. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this is Topgolf’s second e-sports partnership following an agreement with Chinese electronics manufacturers TCL to add e-sports lounges to its venues. The first Super League Gaming experience will be deployed in Las Vegas later this month.
SpaceX Schedules Astronaut Capsule Test Flight
NASA and Hawthorne-based Space Exploration Technologies Corp. announced today its target date for an unmanned Dragon crew capsule launch will be March 2. The Los Angeles Business Journal reports the Dragon capsule launch via a Falcon 9 rocket booster is a step towards fulfilling SpaceX’s NASA contract to send astronauts to and from the International Space Station.
