Nasty Gal: Netflix has signed a deal to make Sophia Amoruso’s book “#GirlBoss” into a comedy series by the same name. Amoruso founded women’s online retailer Nasty Gal of downtown and details the experience in her book.
Taylor Swift: Game developer Glu Mobile of San Francisco has signed a deal to make a mobile game for pop singer Taylor Swift. Glu also made a wildly successful mobile game for reality star Kim Kardashian.
EHarmony: Westwood online dating company eHarmony completed an IT infrastructure refresh. The company said its new IT infrastructure will support user growth in Spanish-speaking countries and Singapore.
Make in LA: Hardware-focused startup accelerator and mentorship program Make in LA has selected its second class of startups. The four month accelerator program will include Canviz, maker of a digital picture frame; Emerge, maker of touch sensitive and interactive hardware; Luma Legacy, maker of smart bracelets; and Rufus Labs, maker of a wireless wrist communicator.
Walt Disney Co.: Disney Accelerator, the tech accelerator program from Walt Disney Co. of Burbank, announced it is accepting applications for its third class of startups, which are due by April 10. Ten startups will be selected for a three-month mentorship, will receive an investment of $120,000 and the opportunity to leverage Disney resources.
