A legal battle with the Los Angeles city attorney isn’t slowing Nestdrop down.

The marijuana and alcohol delivery app announced yesterday that it is expanding marijuana services to 10 new cities, including Pasadena, Glendale and Cerritos, as well as Seattle and Portland, Ore.

Nestdrop of Los Angeles is an on-demand app that sources alcohol and marijuana from local liquor stores and medical marijuana dispensaries. It has recently run afoul of the Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, who alleges in a lawsuit that the company is in violation of the city’s ban on new marijuana dispensaries.

Expansion will put a portion of the company’s business outside of Feuer’s reach, but the company acknowledges the need to be cognizant of medical marijuana rules in its new markets.

“It literally goes from one city to the next, in terms of what you can or cannot do,” said co-founder Michael Pycher.

State regulations differ significantly too. Oregon and Washington have stricter rules around medical marijuana said Pycher. Those states have also legalized recreational marijuana. (It becomes legal in Oregon in July). That’s a market the company wants to go after in the future when regulations are more clearly defined. For now, Nestdrop is sticking with medical marijuana users.

“If the parameters and the laws are in place that would allow for it, it is definitely something we would consider,” said Pycher.

Other cities where Nestdrop now offers its delivery services are San Francisco, Stockton, Oceanside, Garden Grove and Fullerton.

To grow business in its new markets, Nestdrop is running a discount promotion through April 20 – 4/20, that is.
