Mandalay Digital Group, a Hollywood mobile software products company, has bought app search engine Xyo.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Xyo’s technology will be incorporated into Mandalay’s subsidiary, Digital Turbine, though its team is expected to continue operating from Berlin.

Xyo offers a “guided search” approach that makes app recommendations based on mobile users’ data. It’s a useful tool for Digital Turbine, which helps wireless carriers monetize mobile content. Digital Turbine is already working with T-Mobile USA, with pending launches with Verizon and Vodafone Australia.

“As part of Digital Turbine, Xyo’s revolutionary app discovery technology will reach consumers at scale much more quickly,” said Xyo co-founder Zoe Adamovicz in a statement. “But apps are just a start. Consumers have entered a new age where digital content is personally recommended on their phones.”

Shares of Mandalay Digital were down 11 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $4.17 a share midday Thursday on the Nasdaq stock market.
