After a month of prep, Encino car sharing service Hubber has pressed on the gas.

The company announced Monday that it had launched operations at the Los Angeles International Airport.

Hubber, which lets people rent their cars at airports, is stationed at the Standard Parking lot on Sepulveda Boulevard near the airport. By partnering with Standard, Hubber gives its customers access to the attended parking lot and its free shuttle buses to and from the airport.

People going on vacation list their vehicles on DriveHubber.com, then drop their cars off with attendants at the lot. When they return from vacation, the car is waiting for them with a full tank of gas and a car wash.

Renters reserve Hubber cars through the website. When they arrive at the airport, a shuttle takes them to the vehicle.

Hubber’s rental fees start at $45 a day and go up depending on the vehicle. That price includes taxes, airport fees and insurance coverage. The company will take a cut and then pay the car-owner between $10 and $30 a day.

“We couldn’t be more excited to launch at LAX and give travelers another option for transportation in hopes of making travel less of an expense and burden,” Hubber founder and Chief Executive Paul Davis said in a statement. “Partnering with a reputable company like Standard for our parking needs is essential. It will make the process seamless and most importantly, convenient for our Hubber users.”

Though there are a handful of car sharing services that have gained popularity in the last year, Hubber is trying to stand out from the crowd by focusing on airports. The company hopes to attract people who would rather make money by renting their cars than pay for overnight airport parking.
