Culver City online media firm Fullscreen Inc. has hired Andy Forssell, the former vice president of content and distribution at Santa Monica’s Hulu, as its chief operating officer.
Forssell will oversee day-to-day operations of the company’s increasingly diverse media businesses. Though Fullscreen started out as a YouTube multichannel network, the company started producing original shows and live events this year. It also bought social media marketing company McBeard Media in May and launched a subscription streaming video on-demand service in September.
“The media landscape is changing even faster than many of us would have predicted a few years ago, and Fullscreen is perfectly positioned to capitalize as that evolution accelerates,” Forssell said in a statement.
Forssell also served as interim chief executive of Hulu in 2013 and then as chief executive of video app ShowYou.
Fullscreen claims to have 600 million subscribers across multiple video platforms, generating more than five billion video views a month.
