FreedomPop is expanding its free mobile service to another HTC phone and old Sprint cell phones.

The HTC Evo 4G retails for $99 and comes with FreedomPop’s free voice, text and data plan.

Meanwhile, people with old Sprint phones can activate FreedomPop’s plan to receive 200 voice minutes, 500 texts and 500 megabytes of data for free every month. Customers can pay for plans with additional minutes, texts and data.

This is the first time FreedomPop will be available on phones other than the HTC.

According to FreedomPop Chief Executive Steven Stokols, the West L.A. company is expanding its phone options because of high interest after the initial launch of the FreedomPop phone in October. At the time, the service was only available on the HTC Evo Design, which quickly sold out.

“Demand far exceeded our expectations and the inventory we thought would last two months was gone within 24 hours,” Stokols said in a statement. “That’s why we’ve worked so hard to quickly introduce more options to satisfy consumer’s needs for free mobile phone service, especially with the holidays coming up.”

FreedomPop’s bring-your-own-phone program will start with about 10 Sprint devices, according to tech blog GigaOm, but could eventually support up to 500 models. The phones can only be activated to run FreedomPop’s plan if they are no longer under contract with Sprint.
