Cinemills Corp., a maker of studio lighting systems for the entertainment industry, on Monday said that it acquired a controlling interest in LED-Z LLC, a maker of specialty studio lighting products.
LED-Z’s products, which are designed to use less power while offering high power output, color accuracy and dim ability, fill a gap in Cinemills’ product offerings. Both companies are based in Burbank and executives said the move is a strategic partnership that will help them better compete.
“We are very excited to have the complete LED-Z line of products to supplement the Cinemills’ Cinesoft LED technology, using true combined daylight and tungsten diodes,” said Michael J. Walsh, head of technical support at Cinemills, which has won an Academy Award for Technical Achievement.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
