Thousand Oaks biotech giant Amgen Inc. has named former Northrop Grumman Corp chief executive Ronald Sugar to its board.
Sugar, 61, is chairman emeritus of Northrop and served as chairman and chief executive of the defense contracting giant from 2003 to 2009. He also serves on the board of Chevron Corp.
Amgen announced the appointed late Thursday. Sugar will serve on the board’s compensation and management development committee and the governance and nominating committee.
Amgen shares were down $1.06, or 2 percent, to $52.25 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
