CompuLaw, a developer of legal calendar and docket management software, has been acquired by Aderant, a private equity-backed competitor in Atlanta.

CompuLaw was founded in 1978 in Los Angeles, and sells software that helps law firms manage the complexities around filing deadlines in various courts. Its products are used by more than 1,000 law firms, including 75 of the top 100 firms in the United States.

Aderant, which is a portfolio firm of Vista Equity Partners, did not disclose terms of the deal, which includes CompuLaw’s Deadlines.com subsidiary. Aderant late Monday also announced the acquisition of Client Profiles, an Atlanta provider of client relations and case management software. It said the deals will make it the world’s largest independent software company for the legal industry.

“By expanding our product family with proven systems, we’re strengthening our brand,” Chief Executive Chris Giglio said in a statement.

Clear Capital Advisors, a Los Angeles division of Fallbrook Capital Securities Corp., represented CompuLaw in the transaction.
