The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are two of the busiest in the world. Collectively, the two moved almost 1.9 million standard shipping containers in May alone — up 51% from 2012.
In the past decade the two ports, known as the San Pedro Bay ports, have grown quickly. They have embarked on an ambitious mission to manage the large amounts of cargo that move on and off their shores in a way that is both efficient and more environmentally conscious than in years past.
