Karsh is a co-founder of Oaktree Capital, where he serves as co-chair and chief investment officer. Oaktree currently had more than $190 billion in assets under management as of August – up $20 billion from last year. Before founding Oaktree in 1995, Karsh worked as a managing director of TCW Asset Management and the portfolio manager for Special Credit Funds. After earning his juris doctorate from University of Virginia School of Law, Karsh clerked for Judge Anthony Kennedy who at the time was serving in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Outside of the finance world, Karsh and his wife, Martha Karsh, run the Karsh Family Foundation which has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to fund education, community projects and democracy. He is also a part owner of the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Football Club. Karsh remains active in Duke University, where he went to undergraduate school, as a Trustee Emeritus.
