THE MONEY: Pritzker is one of 11 heirs to the Chicago-based Pritzker family fortune, which includes the Hyatt hotel chain. He is chair and chief executive of Pritzker Private Capital, a private equity firm that makes direct investments in middle-market businesses in manufactured products and services. Pritzker co-founded Pritzker Group Venture Capital, which invests in tech-focused consumer and enterprise startups outside of traditional tech hubs.
THE BUZZ: Pritzker completed his tenure in 2019 as co-chair of the UCLA Centennial Campaign, which raised $5.49 billion for the university. Through his family foundation, numerous contributions have been made to UCLA, notably $30 million in 2020 to renovate the school’s Psychology Tower, which was renamed Pritzker Hall, and establishing the cross-disciplinary UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families. These gifts, as well as many others, have brought his giving through his foundation to an excess of $150 million in Los Angeles.
