THE MONEY: Spielberg raked in more than $2.7 billion in fees from his film and TV deals from 1974 through April, according to Bloomberg. Throughout his lifetime, he’s earned more than $1 billion from the “Jurassic Park” franchise. Spielberg’s net worth is predominantly based on the money he’s made in the nearly 50 years he’s been creating films, a consulting agreement with Universal Studios and his role as chief executive and chair of Amblin Partners, which he founded in 2015. While he had fewer directed projects this year, he made ample money producing several television shows, including Microsoft’s “Halo” adaptation.

THE BUZZ: The award-winning director’s most recent film, “The Fablemans,” grossed roughly $45.6 million worldwide after its release in November; the majority of tickets were sold overseas. Spielberg has this year been more active executive producing than directing. He served as an EP on the new Indiana Jones flick “Dial of Destiny,” as well as “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” and several cartoons, including “Animaniacs.” His production studio, Amblin Partners, is working on numerous other projects, including “Carry On,” a thriller starring Taron Egerton. But so far, in part due to the Hollywood writers’ strike, this year has been a much quieter one for Hollywood’s most commercially successful director after a busy 2022.
