Los Angeles Football Club, Co-President and
General Manager
Five seasons into its existence, LAFC claimed the Major League Soccer title on its home field last November in what was called the most thrilling contest since the league’s launch in 1993. Thorrington, with co-president Larry Freedman, formed a roster positioned under the salary cap around star Carlos Vela by adding key players such as Gareth Bale, Giorgio Chiellini, Denis Bouanga and Cristian Tello. The franchise is now valued at $900 million, tops in the MLS, according to Sportico. It also landed a 10-year, $100 million partnership with BMO Financial for its stadium naming rights, greatest ever in league history for a soccer-specific facility.
