Spanos has an NFL franchise valued at $3.8 billion. When the Spanos family bought it in 1984, based in San Diego, it cost $72 million. Spanos’ latest project is overseeing a new 14-acre training facility in El Segundo (estimated cost at more than $270 million). It is scheduled to open next year. Spanos was inducted into the National Football Foundation Leadership Hall of Fame in January. Spanos and his wife, Susie, head the family-owned organization with the help of sons John (president of football operations) and A.G. (president of business operations). The Chargers finished 10-7 last year and were the top-seeded wildcard playoff team.
