Hackman founded Hackman Capital Partners in 1986 and serves as its chief executive. The company has become a global real estate investor, operator and developer with approximately $10 billion in assets under management. Its portfolio includes 19 film and television studios with more than 130 active sound stages and another 64 in development across North America, the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company also owns mixed-use, creative office, life sciences, and industrial properties. It has more than 500 tenants, including Amazon Studios, Apple, and Warner Brothers. Hackman is on the board of St. John’s Hospital and is a member of the executive board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
