Rothman oversees Sony studio’s motion picture businesses worldwide including that of Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Animation, among others. Rothman joined Sony Pictures in 2013, first as chair of TriStar Pictures before getting two promotions. Under his leadership, the company launched such franchises as “Spiderman,” “Venom” and “Uncharted” as well as new installments of “Jumanji,” “Ghostbusters” and “Insidious,” among others. Previously, Rothman was chair and chief executive of Fox Filmed Entertainment. Rothman received a lifetime achievement award from the Producers Guild of America. In 2015, President Barack Obama appointed him to the National Council on the Arts.
