Despite having no experience in fashion, Mente and Mike Karanikolas founded the Cerritos-based online retailer Revolve Group in 2003. But the duo did have a background in digital media, and they use data and social media influencers to promote Revolve’s brands. The company purchased Alliance Apparel in 2015 and began using that company’s manufacturing business to launch Revolve ’s own brands, including Lovers + Friends, Tularosa, NBD, Grlfrnd Denim and Majorelle. Mente studied business administration at USC but dropped out in 2000 and joined software firm Next Strat, where he met Karanikolas. Revolve, which turned 20 this year, posted $1.1 billion in sales last year, up 24% from 2021.
