Since July 2016, Miller-Phipps has been Kaiser Permanente’s top executive for Southern California, but she plans to retire soon. She oversees nearly 78,000 employees who collaborate with 8,120 Permanente Medical Group physicians to deliver care to roughly 4.8 million members through 15 hospitals and 236 medical offices in Southern California. In late 2020, Miller-Phipps added Hawaii to her geographic portfolio; Kaiser serves another 268,000 members in that state. Prior to her current role, Miller-Phipps was president of Kaiser Permanente Georgia, and before that she was senior vice president and executive director for Kaiser’s Orange County service area.
