Founded by Burkle in 1986, Yucaipa is known for its mergers and acquisitions
of major grocery chains. Burkle has served on the board of
the Music Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles
County Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Trust. He is the founder
and chair of the Ronald W. Burkle Foundation, which supports the
arts, fosters workers’ rights and empowers underserved communities.
He also serves as co-chair of the Burkle Center for International
Relations at UCLA.
