Rosenbaum became Caltech’s ninth president in 2014. One of the most prestigious universities in the nation, Pasadena-based Caltech currently has nearly 1,000 undergraduate and 1,400 graduate students, along with 300 professional faculty and 600 research scholars. Caltech also runs the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in nearby Altadena. In 2022, the institute marked the centennial of the Caltech Seismological Laboratory, which focuses on earthquake science and geophysics. Rosenbaum is an elected fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
