Architect, Gehry Partners
The Grand L.A., the firm’s $1 billion project downtown, debuted last
year with a residential tower boasting views of Walt Disney Concert
Hall, which Gehry also designed. Gehry Partners stays busy; in March
it was named one of six semifinalists to design a performing arts center
in Sarasota, Florida. The Pritzker Prize-winning architect formed
his current architectural partnership, Gehry Partners, in 2001. He is
known for his unconventional designs, many of which use new materials
and are often described as sculptural rather than structural. He designs
and directs each project, which include academic, commercial,
museum, performance and residential spaces.
