Former Chair, Cedars-Sinai Foundation

From 2013 to 2017, Guerin served as chair of the Cedars-Sinai board.
In December 2021, she gave $100 million through her Shapell Guerin
Family Foundation to establish a 26-bed children’s care facility at Cedars-
Sinai’s main Beverly Grove campus. That complex, which also has
facilities for medical research and training, opened last summer. Past
multimillion-dollar gifts from Guerin to Cedars-Sinai have supported
the Vera and Paul Guerin Family Congenital Heart Program and two
academic chairs in pulmonary medicine and pediatric neurosurgery.
Also known for producing theatrical plays, Guerin became a billionaire
when her late father’s homebuilding company, Shapell Industries, sold
for $1.6 billion in 2013.
