Co-founder, The Broad Foundations

Edythe Broad and her husband, Eli Broad, who died in April 2021, have
donated an estimated $4 billion over the years, making them giants
of LA.’s philanthropic world. The foundation supports what it calls
groundbreaking institutions in education, science and the arts, and
considers the Broad museum downtown as well as stem cell research
centers at UCLA and USC among its flagship initiatives. The foundation,
established in 1999 with an endowment that has exceeded $2
billion — provided funding to institutions forced to temporarily close
during the pandemic-induced lockdowns, including the Broad Center,
the Broad museum and the Broad Stage.
