VanderZanden founded Bird in 2017 and guided the Santa Monica-based company from its beginnings as a disruptive startup operating an electric scooter rental service to a publicly traded mobility company completed a reverse merger with a blank check company that took it public and brought a fresh infusio of cash to the company, ehich struggled in the early months of the pandemic. Before launching Bird, VanderZaden served as chief operating officer of rideshare company Lyft. Inc and wsa vice president of global driver growth for Uber Technologies Inc.
