Sidestepping the longtime rule of thumb of building a roster through high picks in the college draft, Sneed has traded away every first-round selection from 2017 through 2023 to obtain the right players at the right time. That has included All-Pro commodities such as quarterback Matthew Stafford and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The result was this year’s Super Bowl championship, built also with in-season acquisitions of experienced receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and linebacker Von Miller. Because of his relationship with head coach Sean McVay, the two have been reference as “McSneed” for how they’ve worked their magic in securing players such as defensive lineman Aaron Donald and cultivating Super Bowl MVP receiver Cooper Kupp.
