Chief Executive, Donald T. Sterling Corp.
Donald T. Sterling Corp., Beverly Hills Properties
Sterling is a real estate industry veteran, but is perhaps better known as the former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. He purchased the San Diego Clippers in 1981 and moved the basketball team to L.A. three years later. In 2014, he sold the team for $2 billion to former Microsoft Corp. chief Steve Ballmer. The sale occurred after a tape of Sterling using racial epithets became public. He argued that the National Basketball Association and wife Shelly conspired to sell the team, before settling in 2016. Sterling owns more than 160 apartment buildings in L.A. and has been investing in apartments cine the 1960s.
