Media/entertainment entrepreneur Byron Allen bought more TV stations and added sports to his shopping list recently. His Century City-based Allen Media Group operates 27 network affiliate broadcast television stations in 21 markets, including its $380 million cash acquisition of seven stations from Gray Television last year. In March, Allen filed a lawsuit against audience measurement giant Nielsen alleging lapses that hurt advertising sales. In sports, Allen is sizing up whether to make a bid for football’s Denver Broncos. Founding his company in 1993, Allen is its sole owner. Businesses include cable TV’s Weather Channel, online media platforms, TV program syndication and domestic theatrical distribution.
