Spear co-founded Figs with Heather Hasson in 2013. The brand sells 98% of its products through its website and mobile app. Figs scrubs more medical workers are made with a proprietary fabric called FIONx that promises four-way stretch, anti-odor, anti-wrinkle and moisture-wicking properties, along with zippered pockets to store stethoscopes, scissors, smartphones or ID badges. Figs has 202 employees and outsources its garment manufacturing operations to factories in Southeast Asia, China and South America. The company’s revenue last year added up to $420 million, a 60% increase compared to 2020.
